On May 24th, 2020, Mike and Sarah exchanged their wedding vows. An intimate Delaware wedding was not something either of them would have anticipated three months ago. The original plan was a Texas wedding with all of their closest family and friends present. Unfortunately, Covid-19 dictated something different.
I know that the last couple of months have not been easy for Mike and Sarah. So many difficult decisions had to be made for a day that they had been dreaming about and planning for a long time. What impressed me most about these two was their determination to do what they could under the current circumstances to make their wedding day special and memorable. The pandemic didn’t win out on this one. I loved seeing how much joy and laughter filled their day.
Early in the day, Sarah had her bridesmaids and both Moms (hers and Mike’s) present while getting ready, which was pretty cool. I loved seeing how they were still spending the day together. Mike and Sarah’s families and close friends were able to be virtually present for their wedding ceremony and reception via Zoom. They constructed a green screen in their living room in order to use a predesigned background in which their families were standing next to them as they exchanged vows. ( you can catch a glimpse of how cool this looked in the gallery below!)
The reception was filled with a first dance, toasts from the groom’s brother and bride’s father, and a browning cutting (rather than cutting the cake). I’m a huge fan of this brilliant idea as I don’t love cake that much either!
I did feel an extra burden to capture the day for so many who couldn’t be physically there. It is my hope that this post gives another glimpse into how beautiful and special their day was. I think Mike and Sarah’s faces when they look at each other tell it all. Please enjoy this sneak peek!
Are you planning an intimate Delaware wedding (perhaps a minimony?). I’d love to help! Contact me for more information about capturing your unique event.
These photos are awesome, glad to see you doing whatever you can to make these individuals day still so special. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much, Jack!
