Sarah & Thorne’s October Wedding Day

Sarah and Thorne’s wedding day was as unique as it was beautiful. This was my first airport wedding ceremony. Sarah and Thorne are both pilots and serve with the Delaware Air National Guard. I’m thankful to both of you for your service, Mr. and Mrs. Harkin! Their first date was on board ‘Champ’ the yellow and orange plane you’ll see below. I kid you not – Thorne set the bar really high on that date!! Following that, it was only natural that they would make their vows to one another at the New Garden Airport in Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania.

The Airport Wedding Ceremony

Sarah and Thorne had a gorgeous Fall wedding day. The temperature was perfect for an open air ceremony. Guests were seated inside the airport hangar, and they looked out to a decorated arbor where the couple and officiant stood.

We did a first look and took lots of pictures before the ceremony. Even so, there was a good amount of emotion for both Sarah and Thorne at this point in the day. Even when couples see each other beforehand, the holiness and significance of the ceremony always strikes a cord.

After the ceremony, we took some more photos with ‘Champ’ and then headed down to the runway. Because President Biden was in town, (and we were in a ‘no fly’ zone) we had permission to stand on the runway for photos. So much fun! Between the sun, sky, clouds, and this beautiful couple, the photos are really amazing.

Next we were off to Riverfront Events to celebrate the new Mr. & Mrs. One of my favorite venues, Riverfront Events has a gorgeous riverfront property and a modern ballroom where the lighting is always amazing. It was a great party.
