I’m so excited to share this post from Amanda and Dan’s small Delaware wedding. Amanda and Dan were so much fun to work with. They happen to be neighbors of mine, which made the whole day that much more special to photograph. These two were ready and eager to try out some of my less traditional ideas (and had some great ideas of their own!). We started off with some portraits of Amanda (isn’t she stunning??). Those were followed with a first look, and some fun portraits inside the home (we even got both cats in at least one photo!).
The First Look
That moment when a bride and groom first see each other on their wedding day is so special. Aside from having those precious few moments together, a first look is really practical, especially when you are planning a small wedding. It gives you the chance to have plenty of time for pictures together, and even pictures with family if you’d like to do those ahead of time. Then when your ceremony is over, you can relax, enjoy your guests, and celebrate! I have seen time and time again that a first look helps to keep the day more laid back.
Marian Coffin Gardens
For additional bride and groom portraits, we went to the nearby Marian Coffin Gardens at Gibraltar. If you’ve never been, you should visit! It’s a beautiful space tucked away – sometimes called Delaware’s ‘Secret Garden.’ Prior to Amanda and Dan’s day, it had been a while since I photographed a couple there! I was really excited to be back.
The Small Delaware Wedding
Time for the ceremony and reception! Amanda and Dan did SO MUCH work to prep their backyard area for their wedding day. All the decor – the lights, flowers, trellis, etc. – looked amazing. There are lots of decor detail shots here so you get a taste of how great everything looked. Amanda and Dan – congratulations! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your day!
