You know that song, ‘Summertime’ (and the Livin’ is Easy)? These hot August days bring that song to mind. I can just hear Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong’s voices belting out the lyrics. When I look at the images from Katie and Mike’s session, I’m also reminded of this song. There are greens with golds starting to come through (as they do in late summer), and I can almost feel the breeze that we enjoyed that evening. In my opinion, a Summer engagement session is one of the best!

Katie & Mike’s Summer Engagement Session

I wouldn’t necessarily say that this Summer session started as ‘easy livin’. There was initially a little stress looking for shoes and car keys. And three dogs in one house always makes for lots of excitement, haha. (that is not a complaint though – if you know me you know I love pups!) My goals going into this engagement session were to make Katie & Mike feel relaxed with me as their photographer, to get to know them better, to make sure everyone had fun, and to get some beautiful shots in a low-pressure environment. Mission accomplished, I’d say! I really had a fun time, and I think these two did too (there was a lot of laughter at least!). It makes me that much more excited to capture their wedding day and all the moments that will go with it!

Katie and Mike actually live out of town, but are planning a Delaware wedding at Deerfield in the Fall. We planned their engagement session for a weekend that they would be here visiting Katie’s parents. Guys, it’s so important to schedule a session with your photographer before the wedding. I really, really believe that it makes everything easier, smoother and that much better on the day that you say ‘I do’. If you are able, do it!
