I had a blast with Julia and Michael for their Philadelphia engagement session. Julia grew up in the area around the Parkway, and it was really meaningful to her to visit some favorite spots during our time together. It had been a little while since I had a session in the City of Brotherly Love, and I really enjoyed being back in Philly!
For the beginning of their engagement session, we were joined by Julia and Michael’s dog, Cora. If you haven’t met me or don’t know me well, you may not know that I LOVE dogs. So much. I’m always up for including furry friends in sessions. Cora stole the show for these first 15-20 minutes. She was excited to go on a walk, happy to be in front of the camera, and just a fluffy bundle of cuteness.
The morning of their session, Julia and I began texting about how to get the session in and (if possible) stay dry. The forecast showed pockets of rain and storms for most of the day. We decided to start a little earlier than originally planned to try to beat the storm. What was absolutely not expected was a gorgeous blue sky and fluffy clouds over the city. I think I said ‘I can’t believe this’ probably one hundred times as we walked around. The colorful collection of tulips also added such a nice touch to the photos that we took at Logan Square.
After Logan Square, Julia, Michael, and I hit the Water Works Gazebo (behind the art museum). Afterwards we found a cute little pathway with a flowering dogwood tree. With so many stops along the way, there was one person who made this a very smooth and easy engagement session. Shout out to Julia’s Mom for acting as our driver for the afternoon! It made life so much easier and is greatly appreciated. She got us to all the places that Julia and Michael wanted to visit. Amazingly, because of our efficient driver, we timed the session to end exactly when the rain started.
With a ceremony and reception coming up at The Logan in Philadelphia, I can’t wait to make some of these same stops on Julia and Michael’s wedding day!
