What a gorgeous Chesapeake Inn wedding day for Kyle and Samantha! This blog features key moments throughout their day. There is so much more that I would love to share, but I’m focusing on what’s most important during this busy season!
The bride, groom, and bridal party got ready at Blue Max Inn. Blue Max is a cute, beautifully decorated Bed & Breakfast on Bohemia Avenue in Chesapeake City. When everyone was ready, we set Kyle up behind the Inn for the First Look. These moments are always so special and full of meaning as couples share some quiet time together. (Curious about ‘First Looks’? See this post for more info about why I think they are great!). After giving Kyle and Samantha a few private minutes, we took some couple photos in the outdoor space around the Inn. Before more couple photos by the docks, we took some bridal party photos on the front porch of the Inn.
Kyle and Samantha’s ceremony was officiated by Kyle’s Father in the Chesapeake Inn’s beautiful ballroom. Afterwards, for the cocktail hour and reception, they used the outdoor terrace and the smaller event space that is connected to it. I’m so impressed with this renovated terrace! In addition to the attached indoor room, it was the perfect spot allowing guests to mingle and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Last but not least, you can’t have a Chesapeake Inn wedding without sneaking out to the docks for evening photos. As a photographer who absolutely loves night photography, the lights, boats, and docks right outside of the Chesapeake Inn provide the perfect backdrop! I use three lights for the kind of set up that you see below. First, one to add more blue to the background (some blue is already present from the dock lights). The second light creates a spotlight on the couple from the front, and the third shines on them from the back to create a cool ‘halo’ effect/separate them from the background.
