The Carriage House at Rockwood

A Wedding Story

I’m excited to share a sneak peek of Courtne and Jon’s Carriage House at Rockwood wedding day! Did you happen to catch their engagement session at Longwood Gardens? What a day! In early March, it was like Summer inside Longwood’s conservatory, and a Winter Wonderland outside. First check out that post and then come back here! 🙂

Back to the wedding day! The bridal party got ready at the Sheraton Suites in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. The hotel has large bedroom/living room combos that are perfect for wedding prep. In addition to the rooms, the Sheraton Suites has a great stairwell. Before heading to Rockwood, I used the stairs for some pictures of the gorgeous bride – what a great perspective!

At The Carriage House at Rockwood Park

After everyone was ready, we traveled to the Carriage House at Rockwood Park for the remainder of the day. There was lots of anticipation prior to the couple’s first look. Jon wrote Courtne something to read right beforehand, and he even had a card for Courtne’s Mom (how sweet is that??). If you’ve been to a Carriage House wedding, you know that they have fantastic grounds. In addition to the Carriage House, the Rockwood Mansion is next door. With some threatening rain, we were able to do the first look in the mansion’s conservatory.

Following the first look, the rain held off and we finished couple and bridal party photos before the ceremony. Even though they saw each other before the ceremony, both Courtne and Jon were a little emotional as she walked down the aisle. I love that ‘that moment’ still carries so much weight even with a first look. Walking down the aisle towards your future spouse, and preparing to take vows is always symbolic and full of meaning.

Last but not least, a Carriage House reception! Lots of fun with dancing, toasts, cake cutting – all the good stuff. Courtne and Jon – it’s been a pleasure working with you! Congratulations again!
