In the Spring of 2017, my husband and I were introduced to a Delaware brewery called Argilla Brewing Company.  For his birthday, I bought Jason tickets to a special dinner hosted by Iron Hill.  The dinner featured several Delaware breweries by pairing a beer (each from a different brewery) with each course.  When we arrived, I tried to pick a table that wasn’t too crowded.  (introversion at its best!) There was just one other couple at our table.  A course or two in, we discovered that we were sitting with Steve and Candace Powell.  Steve and Candace own/run Argilla Brewing Company on Kirkwood highway.  Thankfully, Steve is an excellent brewer, and we didn’t have to pretend that we like his beer!  They served ‘Jack Tripel’ (a Belgian Tripel), and to this day it is still one of the best Belgians I’ve ever had.

Over 6 years later, Argilla continues to be one of our favorite places. Originally founded by Steve’s father as a pizzeria (Pietro’s Pizza), they continue to serve great pies. My favorite is the ‘Pepperoni Popper’ – if you like jalepeno pepper poppers, you’ll love this one too!

Recently, I was excited to visit Argilla for a branding photography session. I’m a huge fan of craft beer/breweries and am hoping to do more branding sessions along these lines. During Argilla’s session, we focused mainly on brews and food. We featured a kolsch, a lager, and a hazy IPA, their mouth-watering cheesesteak, and of course a pizza!

Jason and I are convinced that Steve is one of the best brewers in our state.  If you’ve never been, add this Delaware brewery to the list!  You won’t be sorry!
