A Valley Garden Park Engagement Session

I had a blast with Diana and Josh this weekend. We braved the 4th or 5th day of rain in a row (thankfully it didn’t fall for our hour long session!) and it was worth it. One good thing about our recent ‘monsoon season’ in Delaware is that everything is GREEN. Bright, beautiful and blooming. I am not afraid to get wet and dirty during engagement sessions , and I enjoyed ‘sloshing’ around on my side of the ponds and creeks. Diana and Josh love the outdoors and I think the overall feel of the day worked really well for them. They did a great job of planning their session. They chose Valley Garden Park in Greenville because they used to enjoy long walks there together – it is one of their favorite local parks. Diana did a fabulous job coordinating a printed top that she looks great in with solids for Josh. They even gave thought to making the session more ‘earthy’ by going barefoot for part of it and Diana brought along a flower crown to wear as well.

This piece is a great example of all the things we want our clients to think through with the use of our engagement session guide. We’ve designed it to assist in planning and to really help clients have sessions that uniquely reflect them.

A January Engagement: “Baseball, Puppy and Heat – Oh My!”

Ok, maybe ‘heat’ is a bit of an exaggeration – but who would have expected it to be 55 degrees for this January engagement session?  We simply couldn’t have asked for a better day at the Wilmington Blue Rocks Stadium and the Dupont Environmental Education Center!  I had a great time with Paige and John, (and let’s not forget Griffy the pup!) – we certainly took advantage of the weather and our surroundings!  John has played at the Blue Rocks Stadium before, and having a special connection through Paige’s work, we were able to schedule some time there.  It was a blast having the stadium to ourselves!

Not wanting all of their engagement images in the stadium, we did an extended engagement session and headed down to the DuPont Environmental Education Center.  Enter ‘Griffy.’  He is a 1 year old, very sweet and well behaved Doberman.  Being a puppy owner myself, I have a real soft spot for dogs.  Love them!  And Griffy did an SPECTACULAR job!  Look at how well he posed in these pics!  Can’t wait to photograph Paige and John’s wedding this Fall – it’s bound to be a fun day.

A Historic Old New Castle Delaware Engagement Session

This week I had the priviledge of photographing an engagement session for Jenn and Tyler.  Recently engaged, these two were directed to our studio by a family friend of Jenn’s who I’ve happened to know for years, because she also works in the  Delaware wedding industry!  When we sat down together, I got to hear the engagement story.  Sometimes couples are just so excited to share their story (which is great because I love hearing them!) and that was the case with Jenn and Tyler.  Tyler absolutely lit up telling how he surprised Jenn.  While spending the day with Jenn’s Dad and brother, (who were in on the secret) they stopped at the Pinnacle Overlook in Susquehannock State Park to ‘check out the view.’  Or so Jenn thought.  Tyler pulled out a ring while they were standing on a large rock over looking the Susquehanna River and she said ‘YES!’  We had a good time capturing some engagement memories in Old New Castle – I can’t wait to photograph their wedding day in the Spring of 2018!

A Gibraltar Gardens Engagement

It’s always a privilege to do work for friends. I love being able to be part of capturing some special memories. Matt and Mollie are planning a Fall wedding. It’s going to be a great day with family and friends – I can’t wait! For their engagement shoot, we decided on Gibraltar Gardens (a Marian Coffin garden) in Wilmington. If you have never been there before, you NEED to stop by! Driving by on 52 you can almost miss this hidden gem. It is an absolutely amazing spot, which worked out well for this session, because Matt and Mollie are amazing people. Congrats, guys! Enjoy this sneak-peek! The 3rd Place – A Wilmington Engagement Story

Last month I got to take engagement photos for one of the best couples on the planet – my sister and her fiance.  Emily and Mike got engaged on the evening of Monday, December 21st at a charming venue called The 3rd Place in the Cool Spring/Tilton neighborhod of Wilmington.  My church (City Church of Wilmington) recently renovated this space creating an Art Gallery and a cozy ‘neighborhood living room.’  Prefect spot for a mini photos session – especially when it was all decked out for Christmas!  Anyway, back to the engaged couple.  We are so excited to welcome Mike to the family.  As you can see, he is a perfect match for my sister and makes her incredibly happy.  Congratulations, Em and Mike!!  Enjoy these and stay tuned for mini engagment session #2 (hopefully coming later this year…)
