A Winter Wedding in Delaware

Mid-December in Wilmington

Caleb and Emily had their winter wedding in Delaware on the second Saturday of December. Their wedding was originally planned for January of 2021. After a last-minute decision to move the wedding up a month, things came together quickly and beautifully. Amazingly, the vendors were all available and a small number of masked guests attended.

After some pre-ceremony jitters, Emily seemed completely calm and joyful from the moment that she saw her groom. I was struck by the worshipful tone of the ceremony. I loved watching and listening to these two sing hymns to their Heavenly Father. It was a day that filled me with awe and wonder as I was capturing it!

Winter Wedding Photos at the Marian Coffin Gardens

After the ceremony, we took Caleb and Emily (and the bridal party) to one of Wilmington’s hidden gems. The Marian Coffin Gardens. Really, the perfect place for photos at any time of year. The arches, gorgeous wrought iron gates, statues, etc., make for perfect backdrops when there isn’t much green/color available in the winter. Because of another previously scheduled session, I had only a little bit of time with everyone at the gardens. I snapped a few images that you see below (natural light) and left Aaron in charge. Aaron had some external flashes set up and ROCKED the rest of portrait time. Check out what his creativity and lighting knowledge provided in the exact same space at the same time of day. The portraits at the gates with the flash lighting Caleb and Emily from behind are my absolute favorites. I get to work with the best people!

Caleb and Emily, congratulations again to you both. I’m so excited for you and excited to deliver your full gallery in the new year.

A big thank you to the other fantastic vendors we got to work with for this wedding:
