An Insiders Look at Ceremony Details (Liberty Mountain Resort)

A wedding day is full of emotion.  FULL of it!  That is, I think, something that makes my job such a privilege.  I have the opportunity to ‘freeze’ these wedding moments so that they can be remembered and treasured.  So much has been building up to the moment when a bride walks down the aisle with her groom waiting for her.  Usually months and months of planning, of course.  But there’s so much more than that.  Years and years of growing up, learning about relationships, meeting the right person, and gathering your closest friends and family members to celebrate with you.

Jenn and Tyler’s ceremony was this past weekend.  So many sweet moments.  Love is a powerful emotion and sometimes the best way we know to express it is in tears, nervous laughter and awed silence.  Like when Jenn saw Tyler at the end of the aisle and Tyler smiled back.  And the sweet look that Jenn’s father gave her right before giving her away!  Time to pray together.  Laughter when trying to get that ring on his finger.  Near the end, Jenn and Tyler chose to do a sand ceremony to symbolize their ‘oneness’ as husband and wife.   Grandparents laid the foundation the night before by being the first to add sand to a personalized shadowbox.  Tyler’s parents and then Jenn’s parents each poured sand in during the ceremony.  The bride and groom finished up by putting their colors (gray, blue and white) on top.  (side note: a sand ceremony is a really great idea for an outdoor wedding in lieu of a unity candle!  Sometimes the wind is just too much for candles to stay lit!)  This was a beautiful representation of what was actually happening during their ceremony as they said ‘I do’ and became one.

A Worsell Manor Wedding

Amanda and Joshua are such a sweet couple.  It was really fun to capture the excitement of their day at Worsell Manor.  This was my first  time at this beautiful historic venue in Warwick, Maryland.  Two things that really stood out to me from the day: 1) During the ceremony, the pastor had both sides of the family come up to pray for the couple.  I’ve never seen anyone do this before.  It was a really sweet and meaningful moment.  2) RAIN!  Near the end of the reception I walked outside to prepare for some night shots and I was kinda shocked to realize that it was raining.  That wasn’t in my forecast!  Rain can be a pretty exciting thing to nerdy photographers like me – it makes for some beautiful shots!  (Scroll through to the last one in this blog post to see what I mean!)

A Chesapeake Inn (MD) Wedding

Annie and Frankie had a beaufiul October wedding day.  Surrounded by family and friends, they said ‘I Do’ and had a great time celebrating!  One thing that made their day stand out to me was the traditional Chinese tea ceremony.  Before becoming man and wife, they took time to kneel before parents, grandparents, and other elders in their families to thank them for all that they’ve done in raising them.  I loved it – and I truly think it captures elements of respect and gratefulness that are often lost in our American culture.  Guests were also in for a treat during the reception – lion dancers from U.S. Jow GA Martial Arts came and put on a fantastic show!  I also appreciated that they took the time to explain what the lion dance symbolizes in Chinese culture – it was a great learning experience for this photographer and I’m sure for many others who were present!  Here is a little ‘sneak peek’ from Annie and Frankie’s day at The Chesapeake Inn!

A Waterfall Wedding in Claymont, Delaware

I’m so excited to share this post.  What a beautiful wedding day for Anastasia and Donald!  When I first met these two, they came to the studio after finding us through the Delaware Perfect Wedding Guide.  We chatted about their plans for their day and venue, and got to know eachother a bit (one of my favorite things about my job – getting to know my clients!).  At that time, we couldn’t have imagined that it would be 90 degrees on their wedding day in the third week of September!!  Anastasia and Donald handled it like champs – and we have so many beautiful outdoor photos as a result.  The Waterfall is a gorgeous venue and always a fun place to shoot.  And the flower wall!  (Thanks to Nicol Floral Designs)  Such a stunning edition to a day filled with beautiful details, don’t you think?  It also didn’t hurt that Anastasia has absolutely gorgeous eyes and they sparkled all day for her groom.  You can see why I had a hard time narrowing down selections to post here…we’ll definitely have to add some to our website portfolio!

A Wedding ‘At Home’

Last month I had the honor of photographing a lovely wedding for Courtney and Euan.  It was a beautiful (and warm!) March day.  I’ve gotta say – I really loved listening to the Scottish accents of those who traveled to PA for this wedding day.  I know that Courtney and Euan were thankful to have both families there to celebrate with them.  As you can see – these two had a pretty good time.  I love the way Euan makes his bride smile and laugh – isn’t it sweet?!
